Aberdeenshire Larder is a specialist butcher and game-dealer based in Ellon, in the North East of Scotland.
The history of our business began in the 1950s when grandfather of the Bain family, John Christie Bain opened his shop in the village of Tarves. Since then, the tradition has been continuously preserved and built throughout three generations, from the late John Bain to his successors. Aberdeenshire Larder was established in 2002 and continues on the same founding principles of quality and value. With a strong foundation of knowledge and experience in the butchery industry, the family business continues to grow.
Our premises are located in Ellon, a small town in the heart of agricultural Aberdeenshire. We are a long term member of Scotch Butchers Club which means our products are assured the provenance, highest standards of production, animal welfare and well-being, to deliver a quality eating experience to each of our customer. Our production team is led by experienced Master Butchers with traditional skills and always aims to satisfy each unique customer requirement, either professional chefs or home cooks with the perfect combination of modern culinary butchery knowledge and traditional butchery art developed throughout three generations.
We still honour the traditional recipes for our homemade oatmeal, burgers and sausages including exotic Scottish Wild Venison burgers. While respecting tradition, we work hard to develop new and unique recipes to meet current culinary trends.
Aberdeenshire Larder started as a trusted supplier of many of Scotland’s leading independent chefs, hotels and catering establishments for high quality catering products. However, discerning home cooks quickly found us out. We now also offer a Home Delivery service to selected Scottish postcodes using only our own refrigerated van fleet to guarantee freshness.
At Aberdeenshire Larder, food safety is paramount and our procurement policy ensures that we only source from EU approved suppliers. The butchery at Aberdeenshire Larder, and our work processes, are regularly audited by government agencies to ensure that we are adhering to UK food safety legislation and we hold plant licence number UK1685.
