A twist on the classic light and crispy tempura with some untraditional but delicious British Beef strips.
While you're making crispy tempura beef try thinly slicing a selection of vegetables and adding those to your batter to create a tempura selection board.
Ingredients
225ml water, ice cold
Some vegetable oil, for deep frying
Method
- Get your preprepared beef out of the fridge.
- Combine the Tempura Batter Mix with the water and stir well to remove most of the lumps. Ideally use the batter immediately and do not leave to stand.
- Heat the oil in a wok or deep fat fryer to 160ºC.
- Dip the strips of shredded beef into the batter to coat, then immediately place the battered beef into the wok/fryer to deep fry. Do this in batches to not overload the pan. Cook Time: 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- Dry on a rack and serve immediately.
- Serve with a dipping sauce such as soy sauce or teriyaki.
